Situated on the south coast (Atlantic Sea side) with cool sea breezes, not far from the main town Scarborough, the gated community, Inn on the Bay, is a complex of vividly coloured architecturally designed villas surrounding a lovely hotel with restaurant and bar developed and managed by two English gentleman, Chris and James. The site is spacious with two pools, a restaurant and a bar within the hotel
and nearby is a very large, pub style, restaurant and bar called the Pig & Whistle, which is popular with islanders and tourists alike. All of the staff are very friendly and attentive.
The food is excellent with a Caribbean flavour and the prices very reasonable as are the prices for the drinks. James is a great lover of plants and has filled the site with beautiful shrubs and trees, many in giant planters. All the amenities are well thought out and maintained and the resort is child friendly, although the hotel does not take bookings for children. It is situated next to a sandy beach with just the beach road separating them. The beach is safe for swimming and a Coast Guard is positioned next to the hotel. There is lots of local colour and life to be enjoyed. There is little crime, being a small island and the vast majority of Tobagonians are friendly, sociable, and receptive to visitors.
For those that enjoy their music and a chance to talk to the islanders the Pig and Whistle is heaving on Friday and at the weekends with tourists and locals who rate it highly. Tobago is not the next Ibiza, thank goodness, and is very unspoiled. If you want only night life Tobago is not for you but it has a lot to recommend it with beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants, beautiful rain forests with a plethora of plants, birds, butterflies and wildlife. The diving and snorkelling is some of the best to be had in the Caribbean and the wind gives you superb sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
